Summer is here, it's time to break those nails out from their winter hibernation! If you're like me, you have taken care of your nails through this tough winter, but even then my nail color wasn't popping like it should have. Blame that on a harsh snow filled winter, people were more concerned with shoveling driveways than the color or style of nails. But at last warm weather is here so breaking out the sandals is a must, but in true girl fashion if you get your toe done you must get your finger nails done too.

I am more willing to try new styles on my finger nails than toes, usually it's just a pretty color on my toes. My finger nails are my usual test subject for nail designs. Besides new colors and styles, nail care is very important too, but for now let me hip on to some new and cute styles to make your nails pop to kick the summer off!

Now this trend has been around for a while now, painting one or two fingers differently from the rest. I think the summer feel from this is the colors, coral and gold are very bright colors and make a statement without effort. I think gold is making itself a trendy color this summer, between the rings and nail polish it just makes a great accent color.

This mint green color is also a nice summer color, it's almost a nutral color that can go with anything. The nail style on the ring finger is called Nail Caviar it's sold at Walmart for about $3. The caviar beads can actually be used in lip art if you are bold enough to do so!

I think both are cute and bold, but I am not going to risk licking all the beads off! I have done the nail caviar before, it is very cute but has a couple of down sides. When you are pressing the beads into the wet polish, if they don't stick the first time they fall off every place you move your hand. I was picking them out of my sheets all night and waking up with caviar on my body! Another down side is having to get it off your nail. It does come off, but you have to soak your nail or nails in salon grade polish remover for about 5 to 10 minutes and still scrap it off. Luckily I did only my ring fingers and most beads fell off the other hand so only one hand gave me trouble. All in all I would try it again and get single color beads so I could mix the colors like the picture above. I had pink nails and black caviar when I did it the first time. Or next time I could use nail tape and section off spots for certain colors and make a design out of it!

I love the ombre or gradient look, especially with colors like this. I haven't perfected my ombre nails yet, but I haven't taken the time to either. For this all you need is a sponge and your choice of nail color! Here is a video on the exact method to the madness!

These are some are quick and cute ways to kick off some summer nail styles. Check back next week with upgraded nail styles that will have people asking "who does your nails", just tell them it's by a college girl you know!
