This cake is a holiday staple in my house and whole family really. It's not Christmas and/or Thanksgiving without this being on one or both of the menus. We started making this cake while we were living in California back in the late 90's! It took so many years to find anyone else who made this or had the correct recipe. We kept this cake as a family secret because no one at the time had the correct recipe. Now instead of calling it a Banana Split Cake or pie, people call it a ice box ice cream split pie, I will still call it the Banana Split Cake!

2 cups graham cracker crumbs

3 sticks of butter, divided

1 pound powdered sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

4 bananas, peeled and sliced

1 can crushed pineapple, drained

8 oz. cool whip

¾ cup chopped nuts

½ cup cherries

Mix the graham cracker crumbs with 1 stick of melted butter, press into the bottom of a 9x13 pan.

Combine powdered sugar, vanilla, and 2 sticks softened butter. Beat for 15 minutes on low speed.

Spread mixture onto crumb crust

Slice bananas over the cream mixture. Spread drained pineapples over bananas.

Spread cool whip on top. Sprinkle with nuts and cherries. Cover and chill over night.
