When planning a wedding the theme and color scheme are one of the first things thought about. Then the venue and food come into play, oh and don’t forget the dress! There is a lot of planning that goes into a wedding, and themes and trends change yearly. To keep you up to date on all the new trends, I have put together a list of popular trends for 2015.

1. Color Schemes

Determining your weddings color scheme usually depends on the season or holiday your wedding is in. For weddings in the spring and summer, pops of pink are popular this year. Pink symbolizes a new warmer season in my mind, it is the color of the most vibrant flowers blooming in the new season. Plus it is a very romantic color for a wedding, the different shades combined really make a statement too!

You can have a wedding where pink is the accent color or where pink the main color!

Another popular trend is the royal color treatment! Deep, rich, and bold colors usually accompanied with gold. Gold is a very royal color all by itself, but picture it with a plump purple or rich red!

Having these colors for your wedding on any budget will give your big day a royal feel.

In 2014 the popular theme was the all white wedding. Now we know before this theme popular it was taboo for anyone besides the bride to wear white, now brides are requesting guest wear white! In 2015 the trend has been either white and gold or white and blush colors. An all white wedding really does look nice and crisp, and if the bride is ok with sharing the spotlight why not!

If all white or white and gold and is not up your wedding alley, a blush tone and white gives a nice spring feeling too. Still a nice crisp look and you can add color to the wedding and still stand out. Even the bride can switch up her color for wedding attire by having the wedding party and guest wear white and she wears a gown with color!

2. Flowers

Now if you have allergies, this may not be for you! Just joking, flowers can really bring a wedding together. They add pops of colors to decorations or be the decor all alone. Popular flower trends for 2015 follow the colors of wedding themes, couples are leaning towards white or light colored flowers. Flowers like Peonies, Hydrangea, Spray Roses, Sweet Peas, and Garden Roses are making an appearance at weddings these days.

White Peonies have such an elegant look to them. They have a very simple design, yet it brings the wedding gown together and doesn't draw to much attention.

The pink Peonies also add a touch of elegance to your wedding. It doesn't over power the decor or look of the gown with such a light touch of pink.

And the beautiful spray roses give a nice variety.

But the flowers need something to sit in right? A DIY vase can really set the flowers and give your center pieces a custom look!

3. To Ceremony or Not...

If you really look at weddings, you're at the ceremony for 15 to 30 minutes then the reception is 6 hours or more! The reception is also the most expensive part of the wedding. A lot of couple are skipping the ceremony and going right to the reception. Couples are opting for a simple courthouse ceremony, then having a big party after. This way may be better on the pocket and save you from the stress of planning and coordinating a wedding. Just think of the way you may save money, you won't be buying a gown, renting a venue, and possibly saving on catering. Some couples are treating the after party like a regular cook out, and doing all the cooking their self. A lot of money is saved this way and stress too if you think you can't or don't want to plan a wedding.

4. Unique Catering

Picking a caterer is either the hardest part or the best part. On one hand you get to taste test foods, but on the other hand you have to think about all the people you are going to feed and have to pay for. There are a lot of new trends for people that can't make up their foodie mind and for people that are watching their budget.

For the new style couples, a cocktail reception may be the way to go. Instead of paying for a cocktail hour and a sit down dinner, you are only paying for an extended cocktail which can save a lot of money. For people who don't know want a traditional wedding, this catering trend is for young trendy couples.

If you and your wedding party want a more a variety and more food, try the Food Station trend! If you read my other article you already know how I feel about this idea. Food stations can be set up with any type of food theme that you can fix up yourself to your liking. People can have a nacho station, ice cream sundae bar, and even a waffle station! I love this idea because it is really playful and a wedding is supposed to be fun and have a good vibe to it.

Taco and Hamburger Stations

Aside from choosing how to cater your wedding, you need to choose what to cater. The new trend, that I fully support, is a sweet reception! I have seen a lot of weddings skipping right over that boring sit down dinner, and skipping right to dessert! An all dessert sounds good to me, and it's another way to save money. The guest a small meal at cocktail hour so they won't go into diabetic shock eating all that sugar! Then the dessert buffet opens up filled with cake, cookies, pies, and other desserts! So all you're really paying for is the cocktail hour and the baked goods instead of the plated meals, cocktail food, and dessert.

Now if you are just a down right cool couple, how about a food truck for your catering services! Don't think of food trucks as just supplying hot dogs and hamburgers, food trucks supply all types of food. Food trucks have a variety of foods to pick from, you can have 1 or 10, if you're that cool that is!
